Sam Altman joins Microsoft to lead a team to research Artificial Intelligence

 

Sam Altman, co-founder of OpenAI, will work for Microsoft after being fired last friday (17) from the company that he helped to develop. The council decision was surprising. Now he will lead a search team related to the technology of Artificial Intelligence. Microsoft is the main sponsor of OpenAI, which was responsible for the creation of the ChatGPT and says that the partnership will continue.

The co-founders of the company said that the resignation of the OpenAI CEO was abruptly. Greg Brockman, also a co-founder and ex-president of the firm, renounced after Sam Altman´s dismissal and will join him in Microsoft. Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, made a post on X, ex-Twitter, saying that the company team is anxious to meet Sam Altman and Greg Brockman. They will lead the Artificial Intelligence advanced band of Microsoft.

The details of Sam Altman´s resignation of OpenAI are obscured. The company in their announcement last week said that he wasn't really honest with the council, which consequently harmed it to fulfill their responsibilities. Greg Brockman suggested that Altman was fired due to a disagreement with the startup research team.

Infact, Sam Altman wanted to promote the development of Artificial Intelligence in a way considered more aggressive, and the members of OpenAI Council wanted to act with caution. He was pressing the company to launch some other products in the market really fast, and sell them with a great profit. Fusão Nuclear

 A China inaugurou seu maior reator nuclear de fusão na cidade de Chengdu, em dezembro de 2020. O sol artificial foi ativado com êxito e pode atingir temperaturas dez vezes superiores que a estrela de nosso sistema solar. Os asiáticos buscam desenvolver o processo de fusão para gerar energia limpa.

O equipamento, chamado de HL-2M Tokamak pode gerar 150 milhões de graus célsius, três vezes mais calor que o protótipo anterior, o HL-2 A.

A pesquisa sobre o processo de fusão necessita de se gerar tamanho calor, para reproduzir a forma como o sol produz energia, utilizando hidrogênio e gases deutério como forma de alimentar o processo.

O reator chinês utiliza um campo magnético para fundir o plasma a mais de 150 milhões de graus Célsius. O sol por exemplo faz sua fusão nuclear a 15 milhões de graus.

O processo de fusão é oposto ao processo de fissão, amplamente utilizado em usinas atômicas e armas nucleares. A fissão divide o núcleo do átomo em fragmentos para assim liberar energia. Já a fusão une os átomos.

A fusão nuclear não cria lixo radioativo e tem menos risco de se ter acidentes ou roubo de material nuclear. No entanto é um processo muito caro, além de ser mais difícil de se fazer do que a fissão nuclear.

O projeto chinês começou em 2006 com a criação de reatores menores de fusão nuclear. Os asiáticos irão aproveitar o seu estudo e colaborar com o governo francês, que está criando o maio projeto de pesquisa de fusão nuclear do mundo (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor) e que será inaugurado em 2025.

O processo que cria energia através da fusão de átomos é considerado o pote de ouro da energia limpa. Ele não emite gases de efeito estufa e tem potencial de produção energética inesgotável.

Os cientistas estão tentando aperfeiçoar a fusão há décadas, pois o método atual é extremamente caro. A China deu um importante passo para o desenvolvimento da fusão nuclear.

O equipamento chamado pelos chineses de Tokamak foi desenvolvido para se aproveitar da energia que é liberada na fusão nuclear. Ele funciona como uma câmara à vácuo com a forma de um anel onde o gás, depois de ser esquentado por calor e pressão, se transforma em plasma, começando a fusão.

De acordo com a companhia Nacional Nuclear da China (CNNC) é um importante equipamento de apoio para alavancar o avanço da energia de fusão nuclear da China.

O próton e a antimatéria

Uma busca de duas décadas revela detalhes da antimatéria. Vinte anos atrás, pesquisadores físicos começaram a investigar uma assimetria dentro de um próton. O resultado, depois desse tempo, mostra que a antimatéria ajuda a estabilizar o núcleo do átomo.

Aprendemos na escola que o próton é um grupo de três partículas elementares chamadas de quarks. Dois “up”quarks”, mais um “down” quark. Suas cargas se combinam dando ao próton a carga positiva +1. Mas esse quadro simplista encobre uma estranha e não resolvida estória.

De acordo com essa pesquisa, Prótons, a parte positiva do centro de um átomo é parte antimatéria. O interior do próton gira flutuando com 6 tipos de quarks, suas contrapartes de antimatéria, os anti-quarks e partículas de “gluon”, que a une, modificando-as e multiplicando-as. É um trio de quarks.

De acordo com Donald Geesaman, um físico nuclear do Laboratório Nacional do Argonne em Illinmois, EUA, o jeito como tudo funciona é quase como um milagre.

20 anos atrás, Geesaman e seu colega Paul Reimer, embarcaram em um novo experimento para investigar. Chamado de SeaQuest ele finalmente chegou ao fim e seus pesquisadores reportaram as suas conquistas no jornal Nature. Eles mediram a antimatéria presente no próton e descobriram que existe 1,4 down antiquarks para cada up antiquarks.

Teorias sobre o próton

Os dados da pesquisa favoreceram modelos teóricos do mar de prótons. Uma chamada de modelo “pion cloud” que enfatiza a tendência do próton de emitir e reabsorver partículas chamadas de pions pertencentes a um grupo de partículas chamadas de mesons. O outro modelo, chamado de modelo estatísticos trata o próton como a um container cheio de gás.

Futuros estudos ajudarão os pesquisadores a escolher uma das duas teorias. Mas independentemente de que qualquer modelo esteja certo, os dados coletados pelo SeaQuest serão muito úteis, especialmente para os físicos que esmagam prótons juntos na velocidade da luz no Grande Colisor de Hádrons da Europa.

Quando eles souberem exatamente o que está contido nos objetos utilizados nas colisões, eles podem juntar as peças procurando por evidências de novas partículas ou efeitos da colisão.

Segundo Juan Rojo da VU Universidade de Amsterdan que ajuda na análise dos dados do LHC a mensuração feita no SeaQuest pode ter um grande impacto no conhecimento que temos da física que está atualmente limitada na estrutura do próton e no seu conteúdo de antimatéria.

Prótons e Neutrons

A cerca de 50 anos atrás cientistas achavam que haviam descoberto tudo sobre os prótons. Em 1964, Murray Gell-man e George Aweig propuseram o que seria chamado de Modelo Quark,  a ideia de que prótons, nêutrons e outras partículas relacionadas eram conjuntos de três quarks, enquanto que píons e mésons são feitos de um quark e um antiquark.

O esquema fazia sentido mas necessitava ser provado. Em 1970 pesquisadores da SLAC de Stanford  utilizando seus aceleradores de partículas confirmaram o modelo de quark, quando dispararam elétrons em prótons e viram os elétrons se chicoteando dentro do objeto.

Mas houve dificuldades. Chuck Brown,  membro do time d SeaQuest afirmou que quando estavam medindo as propriedades dos três quarks eles descobriram que havia mais por ali, as coisas eram diferentes do que pensavam.

A pesquisa indicava que as massas dos quarks eram um pouco menores do que o peso total do próton. Os estudos indicavam que haviam mais coisas dentro da partícula. Outros estudiosos então apareceram para tentar desvendar a assimetria do próton.

Estudos posteriores trarão novas ideias sobre o átomo e os dados da pesquisa SeaQuest serão indispensáveis para trazer à luz fatos novos das pesquisas sobre a matéria e a antimatéria.

 O poeta de pedra

 Tem dias que aquela angústia bate na porta e nos chama para relembrarmos quem já fomos. A saudade! Como é belo esse sentimento, palavra difícil de descrever, mas que traz mais alegrias que tristezas, pois é um tempo que não volta mais. Nós pensamos em nossas vidas do passado, nos momentos de amor em família, nas vivências da infância, nas descobertas da adolescência. Pena que a saudade dói. A dor da lembrança daquele tempo em que tudo era diferente, quando tudo era felicidade. As coisas pareciam ser bem mais fáceis, ainda tínhamos sonhos. Hoje, eles deveriam ter sido realizados, mas a vida nunca é como esperamos, às vezes erramos a curva, seguimos um caminho errado.

Sabemos que o dia de hoje nunca será como o de ontem. Querer o futuro igual ao passado é sentir a nostalgia do amanhã. Já o amanhã, esse chega rápido, então nos perguntamos, pra que ficar preso ao passado se ele nos machuca tanto? É melhor buscar um futuro diferente, novas oportunidades, novas convivências, pois nossos sonhos podem ser realizados na velocidade de um trem bala, e ainda assim sentiríamos a falta de alguma coisa. Talvez a falta do amor.

O tempo não é palpável, você não o enxerga, é invisível. Mas é presente, desde o nascimento até a morte. O tempo é tudo que está inserido dentro da vida, e nós estamos inseridos nela. Nós também somos o tempo.

Aliás, o ser humano é a máquina perfeita, o relógio perfeito. Nossa cara nos conta os anos, as experiências vividas, comemoradas ou choradas. O olhar nos trás o tempo. A ruga então é o passar dos anos que está impresso, e isso muitas vezes nos amedronta. Principalmente quando nos olhamos no espelho.

Aquele que não tem medo da velhice ou é ignorante, extremamente religioso ou um grande otimista. Mesmo assim, o otimismo também pode se acabar com o passar do tempo. A dúvida da vida e da morte é que nos mata. O que vem depois? Vem alguma coisa depois? Boa? Ruim? O paraíso existe? Merecemos fazer parte dele? E o inferno? É aqui? Existe? Seria tudo um ciclo e voltaríamos a viver nossa vida exatamente igual, talvez daqui a alguns bilhões de anos? Ou viveremos várias vidas, várias mortes, em outros lugares, outros corpos? Mas dessa forma, existiria realmente o tempo? Ou estamos apenas plainando no vazio? No infinito de nossos pensamentos?

O certo é que nada sabemos, existem milhares de correntes e religiões que tentam nos mostrar o caminho da verdade, mas o que temos certeza é que estamos presos no mundo material, no mundo carnal, por assim dizer, e a única certeza que temos é a de que a vida, por enquanto, é uma só. Na busca de encontrar respostas para nossos questionamentos nós criamos a ciência para tentar explicar o inexplicável e não conseguimos. Mas essa história a seguir nos mostra outras possibilidades...
